REPSLog already works in ChatGPT and Claude. Both talk to the same thing underneath: an MCP connector, the open standard AI assistants use to reach outside apps. Grok added support for custom MCP connectors this year, so if Grok is the assistant you already use, you can now log and check your REPS hours there too. Same connector, same tools, same REPSLog sign-in.

Why log hours from an assistant

The entries that hold up in an audit are the ones made close to the event, and the fastest capture wins. If your day already runs through Grok, telling it what you did is one message: “Log 90 minutes of bookkeeping at the Maple St condo today.” Grok resolves “the Maple St condo” to the property in your account, and if a name is ambiguous it asks rather than guessing. What counts toward the 750-hour test or the 100-hour STR test is still a question of substance, not of which app typed it.

What Grok can do in your log

Once connected, Grok gets the same fixed set of tools ChatGPT and Claude have. It can create, update and delete a time log; list your logs filtered by date range, property, category or STR / LTR; and get an hours summary, a breakdown, your goal progress, your dashboard figures and flexible stats. It can list your properties, categories and participants, and read two account settings.

The tools are deliberately limited. Grok cannot create, rename or delete properties, categories or participants; ask, and it points you to the app. Editing and deleting entries are allowed, and deleting is permanent, so be specific about which entry you mean. The connector tells the model to use the stats tool for any total rather than adding up a list, so the number Grok gives you matches the app.

Prompts that work well

Grok does best when a message names the property, the activity and the time, the same three things an auditor looks for. A few that map cleanly onto the connector’s tools:

  • “Log 2 hours of repairs and maintenance at the Maple Street property today.” Creates one entry with the property, category, date and duration.
  • “I spent 40 minutes yesterday screening a tenant for the Oak Avenue unit. Add it.” Grok works out yesterday’s date and picks the closest category; if two categories fit, it asks.
  • “How many REPS hours have I logged this year, and how far am I from 750?” Uses the goal progress tool, so the answer matches the dashboard in the app.
  • “Break down my hours this quarter by property.” Uses the breakdown tool rather than adding up a list.
  • “Show my STR entries for the beach house in June.” Lists the matching entries with dates and durations.
  • “Change yesterday’s 2-hour bookkeeping entry to 90 minutes.” Updates the entry in place. Name the entry clearly; Grok confirms which one it changed.

If you track hours for a spouse, say so: “Log 1 hour of property management for my spouse at Elm St.” The participant field accepts self or spouse, which matters when you file jointly and only one of you is claiming real estate professional status.

How the sign-in works

You never type your REPSLog password into Grok. When you add the connector, Grok opens a REPSLog sign-in page, you sign in there, and Grok only receives permission to act on your account. It is the same sign-in ChatGPT and Claude use, so one REPSLog account covers all three, and each assistant is connected and disconnected separately. Premium is checked on every request.

How to connect Grok

  1. Open grok.com/connectors on the web and select New Connector, then Custom.
  2. Name it REPSLog and paste the connector address: https://api.reps-log.com/api/mcp.
  3. Grok opens a REPSLog sign-in page. Sign in with your REPSLog account.
  4. Back in Grok, ask for something small first: “How many hours have I logged this month?”
  5. Then log one: “Log 45 minutes of tenant communication at Elm St today.” Open REPSLog and the entry is there.

Step by step, with troubleshooting: Connect REPSLog to Grok.

Good to know

  • The connector is a Premium feature on the REPSLog side. Custom connectors are on Grok’s paid plans; on Grok Business or Enterprise, a workspace admin adds the connector first.
  • The data Grok reads leaves REPSLog and goes to xAI under xAI’s terms. Turning it on is your choice; removing the connector revokes access immediately.
  • Write access is real: Grok can edit and delete entries. Treat the connection like a login and disconnect it if you stop using it.
  • Every request is checked against your own account only. The connector can never see another user’s data.
  • Deleting your REPSLog account removes every connection. It cannot recall data a provider already received.

Frequently asked questions

Can I log REPS hours from Grok?

Yes, through the REPSLog custom connector, on Premium. Grok creates the entry in your real account with the property, category, date and duration you describe.

Is this the same as the ChatGPT and Claude connections?

Same connector, same tools, same sign-in. Each assistant is connected and revoked on its own.

Does it work in the Grok mobile app?

Add the connector on the web at grok.com. After that it is part of your Grok account.

Can Grok add a property for me?

No. Properties, categories and participants are read only through the connector. Manage them in the app.
